LG: Hey Peter! Thanks for taking the time out to talk to us. We know how busy you are with preparations to open the store.
PB: Thanks LG! It's a lot of hard work but we are so happy to just have the opportunity to be a part of this amazing project opening just in time for Christmas!
LG: Sounds good! Now your store is actually the second Hallmark store to be opened here in Barbados. When did you first open the location at Sheraton?
PB: The first Hallmark Store opened on Dec 8th, 2005.
LG: Now, you are opening at Limegrove! What attracted you to this location?
PB: We were looking for a west coast location for some time. It is just so convenient for those persons who aren't able to travel the distance to the Sheraton store.
LG: Will the new store effectively offer the same products as your Sheraton location, or will it differ?
PB: We are hoping to carry more Hallmark USA items at Limegrove than at Sheraton. The items we hope to offer will be very exciting and of great quality.
LG: We have seen some great products from Hallmark being advertised on TV! Stuff like the Christmas ornaments, the story book that records Grammas' voice and so on…will you be carrying these products? What else will you have special for the holidays?
PB: We'll have a lot of special things. And as the saying goes "there's a little something for everyone"! If people really want to know what Hallmark is bringing to Limegrove then just visit the store. It promises to be a real treat!
LG: I think we may have to camp out just to get in ourselves! Before we go is there anything else you would like people to know?
PB: We will be opening on December 1st. Stay tuned as the time approaches!
HW: I feel at home and comfortable with the warmth, kindness and understanding I receive from the management and administration. We share the same vision. It's wonderful. I can't wait to fire up and feed you all and share the umami, the joy of the 6th sense, I feel throughout the day when I am cooking.
LG: What will you be carrying at Ciao Bella? Are you more of a store, deli or restaurant? Eat in, take out or both?
HW: 'Ciao Bella' is the Italian for 'Hello beautiful.' These 2 Italian words are simple and universal and archived in all our vocabularies. Ciao Bella Barbados heralds beautiful food, atmosphere and enjoyment from the countries in 'Middle Earth' that surround the Mediterranean Sea. The Mediterranean basin is rich with other cultural cuisines and they all influence each other. I wish to surprise you and take you on a journey to new flavours and new culinary ideas from Spain, France and Egypt, to name a few. And of course Italy will be centre stage.
We will bring the best authentic Italian pizza baked in a hearth, in which we will also bake wood-fired artisan breads and roasted foods. We will introduce deep-dish, stuffed pizza to Barbados. Our toppings will include a slate of innovative gourmet toppings. At the pasta bar you will be able to either build your own pasta dish, cooked right in front of you, or choose the classics on the pasta menu.
Ciao Bella will be part bakery, part bar, all restaurant, eat in or take out. A home delivery service will become available pending demand.
LG: Have you done anything like this before?
HW: I grew up on a Mediterranean diet. I was born a Mediterranean girl in Alexandria, a city founded by Alexander the Great and claimed by the Romans. It's in my blood. Although I've been a foodie all my life, this is a new business endeavor for me. I believe chance favours the prepared mind and this is exactly what I should be doing at this stage in my life. I am creating a new brand and look forward to its evolution.
LG: What do you think people would be most excited about when Ciao Bella opens?
HW: Comfort food you can depend on all the time. Something new to try each time you come. You are going to fall in love with Ciao Bella.
The large tent which was set up on the polo field was lined with food tables offering delectable delights from both local and international chefs. Down the center of the tent were tables set up where guests could sample a large selection of wines on display by Wine World- reds, whites and even some bubbly! And of course, we can't forget the rum which was being served compliments of Mount Gay.
All in all, it was a fun filled night. The event left (pardon the pun!) a GREAT taste in everyone's mouth! The Limegrove team is definitely looking forward to a second helping next year.
LG: Hey Josh! We're really curious about Priva's roots. Can you tell us how the Priva brand started?
JS: PRIVA UK opened in the summer of 2009, on the South Coast of England in a town called Bournemouth (about 1hr from London).
LG: What is the club known for?
JS: PRIVA UK is known for having a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with top level service and drinks, plus talented dj's that get you dancing the night away!
LG: Why Barbados?
JS: We have been great fans of Barbados for many years, visiting the island regularly since the 1980's. Opening a business here has always been in our minds. It's just such a beautiful island.
LG: What will be the vibe created and what can we expect when we visit Priva Rooftop Bar and Club?
JS: The vibe of PRIVA will be friendly, warm and welcoming, open from 5pm as an ambient bar and evolving into a high energy party destination after 10pm.
LG: Why will Priva be different to anything else we have experienced in Barbados?
JS: PRIVA will be a destination for people of all ages, those that want an early evening drink or those that want to party the night away. It is a hybrid venue that will be used for many different audiences, from fashion shows and product launches to wedding parties and private events. We like to think that PRIVA will be loved by the Bajan population as well as visitors to the island throughout the year.
LG: Will it be a members only club? Or will it be open to the general public?
JS: Unlike PRIVA UK, PRIVA Barbados will not be a members only club. There will be a corporate membership scheme introduced as we have had such a lot of interest from businesses on the island. However, the general public is welcome on all open evenings.
LG: What will be Priva's Secret to a great night out?
S: An open air, rooftop space at Limegrove - Barbados' brand new centre of fashion and culture - added to great entertainment, a welcoming team of great locals and high energy partying!
The Hillside Villas have a unique open design, conceived by Robertson Ward Architects, which incorporate swimming pools into the living area. The exterior architecture represents a modern take on traditional design that complements the surroundings, and the interior spaces are inspired by urban lofting, with lovely high ceilings and plenty natural light. Eight of these spectacular 3,433 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 3 ½ bathroom villas have been released for sale.
Situated in Holetown, St James, Limegrove occupies 10 acres within the embrace of one of Barbados' oldest settlements - the site where the English first came ashore here in Barbados in 1627. Today Holetown is a heritage site and a compact but busy hub- the heart of the island's dynamic West Coast, which stretches for 10 miles from the new Four Seasons Resort (under construction) in the South through to Port St Charles Marina in the North. Holetown is also within easy reach of spectacular white sand beaches, golf courses, polo fields, world class hotels, restaurants and shops. With a blend of colonial charm and sophisticated experience, Limegrove will integrate seamlessly with its historic surroundings. It will draw on Holetown's existing charm and energy, and enhance them in return. Holetown will become even more of a vibrant community for shopping, entertainment and enjoyment.
